During my observation, I became familiar with a student named Timothy who was rather quiet. I noticed during our daily adjectives/pronouns song, Timothy struggled with differentiating what is a noun and a pronoun. I developed three lesson plans that will tackle nouns and pronouns and in the third lesson, students will have the opportunity to compare and contrast the characteristics while identifying some of the common words or things they are familiar with.

  1. Hi Zulayka,

You mentioned this child is extremely quiet but also struggled to differentiate between nouns and pronouns. Did this child speak at all? If not, based on your observations was it due to anxiety, defiance, or confusion? I am also curious to know if this child has any speech (receptive or expressive) language impairments and struggles with other academic areas or if it is just this specific topic that is providing him trouble. What other methods, or differentiation were used to help understand the concepts? Were any interactive games both online or with a peer and him or teacher and him used?

  2. Great job Zulayka, a very detailed and well planned unit. I find that music is a great way to stimulate and engage children at this age. Have you thought of using a song as your anticipatory set? I found this great one online.
