Week 4: Assignment 2

Within the U.S. there has been an ongoing increase in the number of students who are identified as English Language Learners. As we continue to shift our curriculum approach by including technological components, it's proven that though there is a challenge for ELLs, there is a significant benefit for students and an additional output on ways we can sharpen students learning skills. As most things, there are a number of challenges that we must keep in mind, limited resources, accessibility and motivation.

Many ELLs not only deal with the challenge of maneuvering through the education system, they must take into consideration the limited resources that may have at home. Note, students who are ELLs typically are connected with disenfranchised community and don't have access to technology outside of the classroom. Though many schools are equipped, there are a great number of communities that currently don't have a significant number of technology tools let alone outside of the school.

In addition, another issue that has come up as well, is the lack of motivation among students. For ELLs it can be a bit discouraging when you are challenged with language barriers and it may be a bit intimidating to fuse in your learning abilities. On the other hand, this is definitely an opportunity for students to perfect their skills due to the applications that can help them improve their grammar and reading skills such as grammar goal, grammar practice and road to grammar to name a few.

Week 5: Assignment 2

Assistive technology is defined as any product or tool that increase and/or maintain the functional capacities of children of disabilities. Some of the functions that are targeted through assistive technology include cognitive problems and physical impairment. The use of technology within the last decade has become a big push amongst various platforms and has served as a great resource for students, teachers and administrators. There are various tools that can be used to improve listening, math skills, organization and memory, reading and writing. Some ATs provide students with spoken language difficulties an opportunity to utilize during lessons and during meetings. This provides students an equal playing field amongst their fellow classmates. Week 6: Assignment 1

In addition, the company advocates for changes within education policies that benefits students and teachers.
